The famous work of this local son, Vincent van Gogh, can be seen throughout the Van Gogh Museum. This man was an absolute expert when it came to innovation.

It should come as no surprise that the largest collection of the Dutch artist’s creations is at the Van Gogh Museum, which houses some of his earliest efforts, including The Potato Eaters and Skull of a Skeleton with a Burning Cigarette around

Surprisingly, most of van Gogh’s work was created in the last decade of his life, and the south of France saw some of his most famous works in his last two years, a Includes Sunflowers, Arles Bedroom, and Almond Blossoms.

By train

If you’re traveling from another city in the Netherlands to the Van Gogh Museum, numerous connected metros and buses will take you to the museum.

The two stations near the museum are: Amsterdam Central Zuid and Amstel.

By tram

The museum is only a three-minute walk away from there.

You should board Tram 2 or Tram 12 if you are coming from Amsterdam Central Station and alight at Van Baerlestraat

Another alternative is taking trams 3, 5, or 12 and getting down at Museumplein.

Buses are among the several forms of public transportation available to check out this famous museum.  

From the bus stop, take bus numbers 305, 314, 347, 397, 41, 65, and 852 to Museumplein, Leidseplein, Concertgebouw, Ferdinand Bolstraat, or Vijzelgracht, all 8-minute walks from the museum.

By metro

Taking the Metro is also an excellent option to get to the Van Gogh Museum. 

It is a 10-minute walk from the Vijzelgracht metro station on the North-South line.

You can drive to the Van Gogh Museum and take in the breathtaking scenery along the way. 

To reach Van Gogh Museum by car, travel on the A10 freeway and follow the route to Museumplein.

With various options available, visitors can choose the one that best suits their needs and budget. It is just a few minutes away from the museum

The garage closest to the Van Gogh Museum is Q-Park (entry Van Baerlestraat), beneath the Museumplein. . 

This parking lot provides over 600 spots for visitors and also offers an “Early Bird” rate for those who arrive before 10 am and leave before 6 pm.

Street parking is also available in the surrounding area for those on a budget. Visitors can find metered street parking on Van Baerlestraat, Stadhouderskade, and other nearby streets. 

However, it’s important to note that these spots can fill up quickly during peak hours and on weekends, so it’s best to arrive early to secure a spot.
