1. By Train

The two stations near the museum are Amsterdam Central Zuid and Amstel.

Visitors can take a taxi from Amstel to Museumplein, the fastest way to reach the Van Gogh Museum.

They can also take a tram or a subway, both would take around 25 minutes.

You should board Tram 2 or Tram 12 if you are coming from Amsterdam Central Station and alight at Van Baerlestraat

Another alternative is taking trams 3, 5, or 12 and getting down at Museumplein.

4. By Metro

Taking the Metro is also an excellent option to get to the Van Gogh Museum.

To reach the Van Gogh Museum by car, travel on the A10 freeway and follow the route to Museumplein.

The garage closest to the Van Gogh Museum is Q-Park (entry Van Baerlestraat), beneath the Museumplein.

This parking lot provides over 600 spots for visitors and also offers an “Early Bird” rate for those who arrive before 10 am and leave before 6 pm.

Street parking is also available in the surrounding area for those on a budget. Visitors can find metered street parking on Van Baerlestraat, Stadhouderskade, and other nearby streets. 

However, it’s important to note that these spots can fill up quickly during peak hours and on weekends, so it’s best to arrive early to secure a spot.
